| The gothic quarter is a container of cultures and styles: originally a roman village during the fourteenth century, it assumed its present configuration. among the many gothic buildings, like the Cathedral De La Santa creu, there has been an additional construction of bulidings in contemporary style. thus, it is a place that is constantly changing. there are many squares and gardens where local people love to spend their time but La rambla remains one of the major cultural places for tourists. further on to the south of the district there is the coastline that leads to the beaches of barceloneta. the barrio social housing is positioned on the border of the district, turning its gaze to the sea while maintaining a strong connection with the area and tradition. the proposal will try to create housing for a population which does not have a presence today. an architecture capable of expressing a sense of contemporaneity while maintaining the value of the historical evidence present around the area of the project. functional specifications:-reception : 50 mq -cafe : 100 mq individual apartments -10 : 30 sqm [ each] -8 duplex apartments : 60 mq [ each] -5 triple apartment 100 sqm [ each] -4 shops facing the street: 20mq [ each] -auditorium : 200 mq -park : 150/200 mq - underground parking for 40 cars there is no limit for the competition. it is open to everyone from all countries. there are no age limits, graduate students, graduates or professionals can enroll. you can participate as an individual or as a group [max 5 participants]. competition website: https://startfortalents.net/contest-barrio-social-housing-barcellona/ |
