| about the competition now in its fifth year, 100% rubber continues to flourish. any concerns that such a specialist competition might run out of steam have been totally squashed by the glorious originality and diversity of the entries that pour in each year from all over the world. no longer confined to the functional - the utilitarian welly boot and rubber glove - or the fetishist, rubber is stretching, curving and moulding itself into a new design identity. 100% rubber 2002 is open to any artist, designer or student who uses rubber in their work on a functional or purely aesthetic basis. the amount of rubber used may be tiny, or the whole entry may be made of rubber. the objective is to find innovative uses for rubber in design, with an emphasis on creativity and wit. how to enter categories for entry: 1 interiors and artworks 2 products 3 fashion, textiles, jewellery, accessories 4 furniture and lighting entries may be finished items or conceptual designs. a panel of industry judges will view all entries and select a winner plus four runners up. entries will be judged for creativity, innovative design, functionality, and aesthetic appeal. entries must be received at dalsouple no later than 31 march 2002. winners will be notified by 30 june 02. entry format please submit your entry in one of the following ways: 1. the actual object 2. photographic prints [a maximum of 3] 3. drawings [a maximum of 3 x a3 sheets or boards] your entry should be accompanied by the entry form attached to this file. additional information may be submitted on a single sheet of a4. send your entry to: dalsouple 100% rubber, p o box 140, bridgwater, somerset, ta5 1ht, england if you have any questions about the competition telephone +44 [0]1278 727777 or e-mail [email protected] prizes the winner of each category will receive a specially commissioned dalsouple award the overall winner will receive a cheque for £1000 plus a dalsouple rubber floor for one room in their house. additional prizes may be awarded at the judges' discretion competition rules the judges decision is final. no correspondence will be entered into. 1 where applicable, entrants are required to obtain permission from clients before submitting their entries dalsouple reserve the right to publicise photos and details of entries, with mention of the name of the designer or artist all entries remain the intellectual property of the designer or artist. dalsouple cannot return drawings/artwork/prints. actual items will be returned after the competition if required. if you need your entry back by a certain date, please e-mail us as a reminder and we will make sure it reaches you. if you submit an actual product, you need to insure it . please note that due to the high number of entries, we cannot write to all entrants after the competition. you will be able to see the results of the competition: on the dalsouple website at www.dalsouple.com, together with a presentation of the best entries in the september issue of fx magazine. we are delighted at the response to the competition every year, and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who takes part for your hard work and enthusiasm. dalsouple 100% rubber 2002 entry form please print out this form and submit with your entry. category of entry [eg interiors, product, furniture] ……………………… name of entry …………………………. description [state the function/purpose of entry and explain why you have chosen to use rubber. if your entry is submitted as a drawing or photographic print please indicate actual dimensions] …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………........ ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………........
