| how to make eating and drinking an even more enjoyable experience, enhancing the quality of life? this is the theme of the marksman design award 2002: 'culinary enjoyment'. students worldwide challenged to design a business gift the enthusiasm for indulging in good food and learning to prepare delicious meals has never been so great. as a response to this growing trend, the marksman design award, an international design competition for students, has chosen as its theme for 2002: 'culinary enjoyment'. with the marksman design award, pf concept international [one of the largest producers of business gifts in europe, asia and the united states] is challenging talented and ambitious students following industrial and architectural design courses to design a business gift in the spirit of the theme 'culinary enjoyment'. the competing entries will be judged on the criteria of originality and functionality, taking into account the way in which the student justifies his or her design. the jury's final judgement will also take into consideration the design's potential for mass production and how it harmonises with the marksman collection: a collection of the highest quality innovative business gifts in which the emphasis is placed upon design. cooking, dining, drinking¡ enjoying if you go shopping for a good cookbook, you will be overwhelmed by the enormous and continually expanding selection on offer. a growing number of people are choosing to spend more time in the kitchen and finding it to be a source of fulfilment. holding dinner parties at home is becoming increasingly popular, with exclusive dishes that are prepared with loving care. cooking and eating together has become an integral part of social life, and a hobby we enjoy in our spare time. so the theme 'culinary enjoyment' highlights a new trend in our society and is a perfect inspiration for the design of a high quality business gift in the marksman design award 2002. total prize money: 16,000 us dollars the total prize money for the third edition of the marksman design award amounts to 16,000 us dollars, with first prize at 10,000 us dollars. if the winning entry fulfils all requirements, pf concept international may decide to include it in the marksman collection. the winning candidate will also be given the opportunity to go to asia to learn about the production process on the spot. the second prize is 2,500 us dollars with the third prize at 1,000 us dollars. the jury can also allocate five runner-up prizes of 500 dollars each. dates and deadlines the closing date for enrolment is 29 march 2002 and the entry deadline for the design is 31 may 2002. the winners will be notified in july 2002. international jury the international jury for the marksman design award 2002 is made up of the following persons: ¡₪ des laubscher, board member of design for the world, south africa. ¡₪ anne stenros, managing director of design forum finland in helsinki. ¡₪ aldo colonetti, scientific director of the european institute of design in milan and member of the executive committee of the italian industrial design association. ¡₪ anne guenand, director of the post-graduate program 'dess of industrial design' and lecturer researcher at the university of compi¨¨gne, france. ¡₪ ken hom, author of best selling cookbooks on chinese cooking and celebrity chef in bbc television series ken hom's chinese cookery and ken hom's hot wok. for more information: marksman design award office p.o. box 15 4854 zg bavel [breda] the netherlands t +31 161 436 035 f +31 161 436 031 e [email protected] i http://www.marksmandesignaward.com |
