| one of the city's aims is to construct in the old freight yard site a new municipal baseball stadium ['new stadium' below] to be a new symbol of hiroshima in the 21st century and a source of pride for the city's and prefecture's people. accordingly the purpose of the competition is to seek ideas and know-how from a wide range of sources by inviting proposals for a new stadium that will fuse a unique design with advanced technology, and for utilization of the entire old freight yard site within which the stadium is located, as well as for landscaping of the site's environs. type: open, international, two stages open to: any of the following: a. a class 1 architect under the licensed architects law of japan; b. a class 1 architectural office under the licensed architects law of japan; c. those who professionally qualified in a country other than japan to design and supervise the construction of structures, such as the one that is the subject of this competition.; or alternatively the entrant may be a design consortium made up of the above. jury: yoshiro ikehara, atsushi kitagawara, haruto kobayashi, akira kuryu, hiroshi mano, kenji ooi, masao saito prize: design commission organizer: the city of hiroshima registration deadline: jury 7, 2006 submissin deadline: august 31, 2006 website:http://www.city.hiroshima.jp/e/index-e.html |
