the introduction of wind turbines in any landscape changes it,
restructures it, changes its balance and its proportions, affects its
cultural and socio-economic aspects, and introduces new ones.

in conjunction with apci, edf is launching a european competition
inviting students and young professionals to think about the definition
of these new landscapes and about changes which would make the greatest
contribution to regions and landscapes where wind turbines are
installed.

a global approach must be taken in this project, combining the
complementary points of view of those who specialise in objects and
space.

the competition will concentrate on the environment of wind turbines,
close to and far away, and will not consider the design of the turbines
themselves.

this european competition is planed from november 2002 to june 2003. it
is being launched in the following 33 countries: albania, austria,
belgium, bosnia-herzegovina, bulgaria, the czech republic, croatia,
denmark, estonia, finland, france, germany, greece, hungary, ireland
[eire], iceland, italy, latvia, lithuania, luxembourg, macedonia, the
netherlands, norway poland, portugal, romania, the united kingdom,
slovakia, slovenia, spain, sweden, switzerland, yugoslavia.
