Miami Herald Article on DawnTown + Marine Stadium
Design students and professionals will have a chance to submit ideas that could shape one of Miami’s most recognizable landmarks, the Marine Stadium. DawnTown, an annual international architectural competition, is accepting ideas for a floating stage that could be part of the Marine Stadium restoration.
The Marine Stadium was built in 1963 in Virginia Key and has hosted boat races, concerts, rallies and many other sporting events. The stadium was shuttered after Hurricane Andrew caused millions of dollars in damage in 1992, and has remained closed ever since.
