שכונת בית אליעזר בחדרה נוסדה ב1950- ממזרח לעיר חדרה. הבניה אז היתה בסיסית ביותר. בתחילה נבנו כמאה דירות בנות חדר וחצי בלבד. השכונה היתה מבודדת עניה ושונה חברתית מהעיר "הותיקה" חדרה שהיתה כבר בת 60 אז. כיום פיתחה עירית חדרה מודעות רבה לצורך בפיתוח הנוער בעיר, על כן יזמה את בנייתו של המתנ"ס הראשון - מתנ"ס בית אליעזר. בזכות הקמת מבנה מודרני ומצוייד זה בריקמה הקיימת, תזכה שכונת בית אליעזר לתרומה והתקדמות משמעותית יחסית לתחילת דרכה.
השפה העיצובית
המבנה יעמוד במקום מפגש חשוב בשכונה, בפינת שני רחובות עם כיכר נרחבת לפניו, כך שתהיה לו נוכחות משמעותית במירקם הבנוי.
בחירת החומרים והגוונים נובעת ממיקומו הגאוגרפי וההסטורי של הבנין. הבחירה באבן חול כתשתית העיצובית של החזיתות משדרת מכובדות והגנה, ובו בזמן קשר למבני האבן המקוריים של חדרה. חומרים קלים יותר, כמו ציפויי אלומיניום וזכוכית, מבטאים את הקשר לארכיטקטורה העכשווית.
בבניין זה קים שווי משקל "אסטטי" ו"פיסולי". בנוסף לניגוד החומריים שהוזכרו, קיים גם ניגוד של הגופים הגאומטריים. שני קירות "חותכים" את דרכם דרך המסות הנמוכים והמעוגלים יותר, וקיר נוסף, בניצב להם, חודר לתוך הכניסה הראשית. שווי משקל שלישי המצוי בעיצוב המבנה, הוא בגוונים ובטקסטורות: הניגוד בין ה"חום" של גווני בז' בקירות האבן עם ה"קרירות" של גווני האפור בקירות ה"חותכים" ובציפויי האלומיניום, יוצרים עניין פיסולי בחוץ ובפנים.
הפרוגרמה
הפרוגרמה של מתנ"ס בית אליעזר מכילה אודיטוריום, קפטריה, חדרי חוגים, מרכז לגיל הרך, מרכז למולטימדיה, סטודיו למחול, סדנת אומנות וקונסרווטוריום למוסיקה. הרעיון המרכזי היה לעשות יותר ממבנה פונקציונלי לחוגים. עיקר הדגש הושם על יצירת מקום מפגש ומגע חברתי. דגש זה הכתיב את חשיבות תכנונו של החלל המרכזי והקפטריה כחלל המוקף בשתי קומות של פעילות וחיים תוססים. כך יכולים תשובי בית אליעזר להשתתף הן בפעילות השונות המתקיימות והן ליהנות מהמפגשים האקראיים המתרחשים בתוך המתנ"ס.

The Beit Eliezer neighbourhood was established in 1950, somewhat eastward and separated from the main city. The construction in that year was very basic: about one hundred half bedroom dwelling houses. The neighbourhood was isolated, poor and socially different from the older Hadera which was already 60 years old.
Today the Municipality of Hadera became very aware of the Youth's social life in the city, and initiated the planning of this first new Community Center in the neighbourhood of Beit Eliezer. By implanting this modern and well equiped building, the Beit Eliezer neighbourhood will advance a long way comparing to 1950.
The Project of the Beit Eliezer Community Center has a privilige in its visual appreciation thanks to its position in the neighbourhood. It is situated in the corner of Irit street and Shizaf street. A big Plaza in front of it gives enough distance to appreciate it in a long range view, so that the Front Facade reveals itself in the Plaza's backround in all its splendour.
The Design Language
The building will stand in an important intersection of the neighbourhood, at a corner of two streets with a wide Plaza in front of it, so that it will have an impressive presence in the existing urban fabric.
In this building the choice of Materials and Colors is connected to the buildings, place Geographically and Historically. The choice of sand stone covering as part of the Design basis for the Elevations transmit Honorability, Respect and Shelter, and at the same time a connection to the original Stone Building of Hadera. The use of other lighter materials, as Aluminium Covering and Glass will express the Cultural connection to the more modern Architecture.
In this building there is an "Aestetical" and "Sculptural" equilibrium. Added on to the contrast of the Materials above mentioned, there is a contrast of Masses, too. Two Tall Walls "cut" their way through the lower and rounder masses of the building, and another one, perpendicularly to the others enters the Building from the front Entrance. The third equilibrium found in the Design, is the one of Colors and Textures: the contrast of the "Warmth" of the Beige Colors of the Stone and Walls with the "Coolnes" of the Grey Tones of the Cutting Wall or of the Aluminium Covering of different external walls around the Building, create sculptural interest outside and in.
The program
The program of the Beit Eliezer Community Center comprehends an Auditorium, a Cafeteria, Activity Rooms, a Day Care Center, a Multi-Media Center (Computers), a Dance Studio, an Art Workshop and a Music Conservatory. The main idea was making more than a place were children and Adults can come for their extra curricular activity. It was to make a place for Encounters and Social Contact. For this it was so important for us the planning of the Central Space with the Cafeteria in it that by being surrounded by two floors of activity rooms people will fill it and enliven it, so that the Beit Eliezer population can also come for Activities and also come to Socialize and make Encounters in it.
