The SKYHIVE Skyscraper Challenge is looking to create an iconic high rise structure for an office tower with state-of-the-art facilities. Working in partnership with the Manipal Executive Education, winning entries will be showcased in their Global Tall Building Studio - Design Workshop in Dubai, where architecture students and industry leaders collaborate to conceptualise the future of high-rise structures.
The participants are asked to redefine skyscraper design through the implementation of novel technologies, materials, programs, aesthetics, and spatial organizations along with studies on globalization, flexibility, adaptability, and the digital revolution. SKYHIVE architecture competition should be treated as a platform that examines the relationship between the skyscraper and the natural world, the skyscraper and the community, and the skyscraper and the city.
Participants are encouraged to explore the latest innovations in technologies in sustainable systems and methods for solving economic, social and cultural problems through the establishment of new urban and architectural methods. They will need to consider the scarcity of natural resources, as well as the strain on the existing infrastructure, and the exponential increase of inhabitants, pollution, economic division, and unplanned urban sprawl.
This is an open architecture ideas competition, and as such participants have complete freedom to interpret the brief in the most creative way possible. Competition aims for the submitted projects that have the potential to rewrite the definition of the modern-day skyscraper.
